Usurper Question

When you level up, you can train in certain special moves (drop kick, choke
hold, etc.) but I have yet to see where you can actually use those moves. Does
anyone know where those moves are used? Is there some type of fight in the
dorm or the bar that you can do it?

Those skills are only useable in bar fights. The higher the skills are trained,
the more successful you will be in defeating more characters in the bar fight.

I'll try again later tonight then, but two days in a row, every time I've tried
(6:30 AM EST, 7-8 AM EST, 12:30 EST, and now 4:00 EST, the BBS tells me that it
is going to "Door Party" and then jumps back to the Mages page. There are like
4 of us actively playing (of which only me and one other guy seem to be the
really active ones) so I just don't think it's that the game is too full of
people at the moment.

A Very Personal Question

have you ever felt like you want to create art but your heart just isn't in it?
that's something that has been happening to me ever since my dad is gone. i
know i said i have been making art as a coping mechanizim but the truth is. my
heart just isn't in it. a lot of my ideas are far too ambitious for my soul.
things like a lot of sprites illustrations music sounds 3d models and more. and
my heart just isn't ready for illustration. i've been trying my best at music
than illustration at this time. i've been doing edits & music than drawing.
because they are just easier and my heart isn't ready for drawing or go for an
ambitious project yet. i realized this during my vacations. i said to myself "i
will practice my drawing skills during these times" but never really made a
significant progress. i have been only able to draw for like 1 or 2 days. and
althought they aren't bad. i still felt rushed & just completely broken. i have
been thinking about what would my dad think for days. i have been having
nightmares about my mom & my sister dying periodicly. i want to create art even
if it's for joke. but my heart & soul is far too weak for big projects *sigh*
for now i'm focusing on smaller more jokey projects til i'm ready for something
big. do you guys ever felt like that. you want to make art but your heart isn't
in it because of your inner-pain on your soul?

Extreme Lord - Lord Life Not Working?

Whenever I try to use this this "Other Place" (Lord Life 1.17), the system
stops working and I end up having to disconnect and reconnect. And given that
my stats in the game are negative and Lord Life is how you are apparently
supposed to correct that, I'm basically locked out of the game at this point.

Still not working. When I go to Lord Life, it gives me the "** HOLD ON. . **
and then tells me that the game is "Registered for use within any programs
written by: Trevor Kooy" and then the system just stops responding. I've left
it for a good 5 minutes with no change and there is no way to exist so I
basically have to disconnect and reconnect to get access again.

That's weird. It seems to be working fine for me. I was just in there. When
it's hung up try pressing "E" because that's the next prompt it's supposed to
give you. ("E" is for enter and "Q" is for quit)

So, I switched out my armor (H/T Jade) which fixed the negative defense stat,
but did nothing to resolve the negaitve hp (which is in the negative thousands
but won't actually tell me what it is. Instead, it says "-,204"). I tried
switching my Telnet program from Swath to Netrunner, and, when that seemed to
do nothing, I tried loading up Lord Life and then I literally left it like that
and went dropped my kids off at school. When I came back an hour later, it
still had not gotten past the "created by" screen and no load had occurred (I
also tried mashing the "E" button before leaving to no effect). I also went to
the forest and let Jennie know jsut how hott she is, but that seems to have
caused my hp to go to -,344, so not exactly a big help. I suppose at this
point, I just need to figure out if I can self abdicate (or if a sysop can
close my avatar on Extreme Lord) and I'll just have to start again.

Ok, I have installed Lord Life 1.19D and removed the 1.17 copy. People that
have already made progress in Lord Life this round will need to start over,
sorry. But, with this fresh install, all players should be able to play Lord
Life now. Sorry to anyone that was having trouble getting into Lord Life.
Hopefully that issue is gone now with the upgrade to 1.19.

I was having the - negative from fighting in the 4th area in ROL, dungeon area,
i believe, i could go to LL and usually fix it after awhile. I decided to stay
out of this one area of ROL and just use the top 3 areas to fight in and never
had any more problems.

Planets: Teos Reset And Tournament

Hi everyone,
The Planets: TEOS game has been running for a while and only has 3 players with
2 players controlling the whole game, without real possibilities of anyone
being able to catchup or change the status quo.
Therefor I would suggest a reset of the game, to let new players come in and to
reset the status quo to make the game more interesting.
Also, perhaps it would be possible to try and run a tournament?
With, for example, a cartel or person owning, for example, anywhere between
10-15 planets being declared the winner and causing a new reset?
Personally, I believe 10 planets to be a good limit if there are several people
playing, as when someone gets to 13-15 it is not possible for anyone to really
catch up.
If some kind of donation is required for a small price to run TEOS as a
tournament, perhaps the sysadmin could weight in what they feel would be
necessary, and perhaps interested players could pitch in?
It would be nice to have another active game, and TEOS becomes very interesting
in the mid-end game if there are enough people playing and fighting over
planets.
What do you think?

Sounds great! I can certainly reset Planets and host a tournament for the game
as well. I just want to make sure there is interest in the game first before
hosting the tournament. Whatever rules you all decide on for winning is good

Perhaps it would be good to give time to people to get ready, TEOS in the end
has an important player against player component, and you want to have everyone
starting on even terms and not starting late against other players.
So perhaps put something like next saturday-sunday-monday to give people time?

Are we going to try and declare cartels/teams in advance (to try and balance
things) or are we going YOLO and seeing where the chips fall. I'm tempted to
lean toward setting a roster before the start, to limit the potential for
backstabbing.

I'm all for dirty tricks in a regular run, but if we are trying to run a
tournament style thing, we probably should have some ground rules (also a
prohibition on duplicate accounts, similar to LORD Tournamnt)

One account per person would indeed be a fair thing.
Regarding Cartels, i think it all depends on how many people are going to play.
Personally, since there are not that many players, I would limit Cartels to 2-3
players/people per Cartel, as to allow some team play but not create one
dominant force. If there are, lets say, 10 players only, then having large
cartels does not make a lot of sense, since it would create a very stagnant
enviornment.
Then again, if you set a win condition that happens "early enough", like a
relatively low amount of planets owned by any Cartel, I guess you could YOLO it
once and see where things land, as long as it gets reset early enough if things
do not work out.

In all cases, maybe we can just YOLO this, and ask people to respect 1 account
per person, and see how it goes, and ask the admins to give us 1 week of notice
on the reset? In all cases, the game needs a reset to give new entries and
freshen things up in my opinion.

This was fun, although the rules probably need some adjustment before the next
round. We went into this knoing we had a team of three. We assumed other
cartels would have 2-3 members, out of the gate, but it seems that was maybe
not the case. We even started a few days late, but coordination can overcome
the setbacks.

TEOS does feel similar to Diplomacy, in that the only way to lose is to trust
other players, but also the only way to win is to trust other players. If I had
one recommendation to offer up, for next time, it would probably be to balance
the rosters at the start, so the teams are close to equal.

Thanks everyone! Was fun! My Cartel only went to two members once it was clear
that the other main cartel had 2. So I think there was only one group that
played as a 2-3 person group? Personally, I would put a limit on Teams-Cartels
at 2 people per Team-Cartel. Several single players individually can still
compete with a team of 2, but when it becomes a team of 3, you are forcing
everyone to play in teams of similar size in order to stand a chance. Also, I
think the 10 planet limit to have a reset was a bit too tight. Personally, I
would raise it to at least 11, to take Uniland into account, but perhaps
something in the 12-13 range could be also done? We do not want the world to
become stagnant, but at the same time, I personally think the game should last
at least a month or so? So my suggestions for next round: 1. Max 2 people per
Cartel-Team 2. Change win condition to 12-13 planets? Thanks everyone for the
fun round, and congratulations to the winners!

So I found a few IGMs for this about a week ago.
I'd love to see them in an "EXTREME" version running parallel (just like LORD
is doing).

Also I think it should be locked into solo for the tournament *OR* teams with a
larger amount of planets (you can add more I believe) and maybe require 20 out
of 52 to be claimed?

passing is literally not easy). i've been trying to do a passion project on RPG
Maker 2000 based on an obscure game that cleverly uses default assets. and also
doing some multimedia art things like video editing photo editing music
composing etc etc and i want to properly get to drawing since i got a tablet
with a pen. so yea. trying to be fine. i guess.

I'm doing ok! Lots of changes in my life, my partner of 4 years moved in with
her 2 boys a year ago and we're managing a blended family as I have 2 much
older kids living with me. Work keeps me busy and 4 (4!) kids certainly keep me
busy but we make it work in our little home and I appreciate the support of
having a partner as my eldest moves out to go to uni and start her own life.
Bittersweet to be sure, but I'm a very lucky man to have so many people to love
(and love me).

What Do You Guys Think Of Uzbekistan?

me and my relatives went to uzbekistan for a 10 day vacation to see my uncle
and i have to say. uzbekistan is a very colorful & fun place. there's a lot of
stuff in uzbekistan that is just worth seeing. especially the registan square
in semerkant. what is your opinion on uzbekistan guys? i like uzbekistan it's
colorful & fun and it's people are nice. but i want to hear what you guys
think.

If I'm being honest, the most I've heard about Uzbekistan is references from
Borat. But seriously it seems like an interesting place and less scary than
Tajikistan, that's a place I don't think I'd be willing to visit.

About Doormud And How Awesome It Is

Hi all. I am right now level 4 in DoorMUD, and I really enjoy playing it. Yeah,
in the beginning, sometimes I got lost, and I open maps on my Android to get
into it... but not anymore. Once you learn to read important texts and learn to
watch MAP, you can never get lost again. What buyed me the most is that even if
you reach 0 Monster Fights, you can still battle monsters but you will not gain
experience until server's 00:00AM daily reset which is so so awesome to me. I
really like this game and watching how much damage I did and how much damage
monster did... numbers are addicting. I don't know if I am allowed to tell you
this secret, but there are rooms you can't see on the map. Awesome little game
hidden in the vintage tech, if I may call it. That's all I wanted to share in
excitement. See ya! ^_^

Thanks, first DK was very lucky quick. After that had to just play with the
lowest risk possible to maintain the lead. However, I was getting worried at
end when I seen serial coming for it. I didn't get nearly the magic doubler as
the first time, guess we can't be lucky all the time ;) rng

Grill Season Is Starting Soon Over Here, What's Your Go-To?

What do you peeps usually make when bbq/grill season comes around?
I usually go for any kind of ribs or steaks with coleslaw/potato sallad.

Then again people over here are sold on sausages too (I usually go for the
cheese filled variant), but i kind of consider that more as a snack for late
evenings by the lake.

How Do I Fix Negative Hp In Lord?

i have tried to run the first door game but it never loads. My HP are stuck in
negative :S

I tested the 1st game (tournament LORD) and was able to get in immediately.
What BBS client are you using?

With your HP stuck in the negative, are you talking about the 2nd LORD game,
Extreme LORD? If that's the case, you must have visited the Changeling in other
places. It can curse your character to have negative stats. To fix that, load
up LORD Life in other places. There's an option there to convert negative stats
to positive. So, there is a synergy between the Changeling and LORD Life. If
you get cursed to negative stats from the Changeling, the negative numbers will
be huge. Then, if you go into LORD Life and get those numbers changed to
positive, the benefit is HUGE.

No luck.. oh well..
Selecting Lord Life shows the "HOLD ON.." and "OpenDoors 5.00" messages but
nothing else, waiting or hitting the keyboard does nothing.

I am on a mac and have tried two clients ICY term and SyncTERM. Every other
menu item has no issues, just Lord Life doesnt want to play ball. I could not
load it even in the previous game round.

Thanks for trying to help, will just sit out this round of extreme mode and
stick to tournament!

Bummer. Yeah I use syncterm myself and that should work fine. I tested entering
LORD Life and it loaded up fine.

I fixed your hitpoints by hand, so that's good to go. I also deleted your
character in LORD Life, so maybe that'll fix the problem with you not being
able to enter. Maybe give it another shot and let me know if that fixed the
problem.

NEW GAME MODE. All the cartels on Planets: TEOS are destroyed. Players dead.
All the planets have been left open and defenseless. Only one planet remains
guarded. You want to WIN? Come and Kill the Master of Orion.

Updating Teos Settings

I think all of us would enjoy having Teos be a more competitive, interactive
and engaging experience. The early game is great. But as time goes on it has a
tendancy to become one sided or unbalanced in several ways. A good example is
how several ships seem to be fairly useless and never purchased.

But I don't think this bulletin board is a great place for these discussions.
For example, posting updated ships or planets would potentially be long and
unweidly in this format. I personally don't think Teos is more than a few weeks
or a month away from a potential winner. Once cartel hostilities break out we
will have a winner fairly quickly.

Suggestions on where we can discuss, collaborate, share files?

is shared with all members is vital to ensure we collaborate on the same data.

Fixed Longstanding Bug With Oracle Weather Forecast

I've noticed as well as other users the odd inaccuracy of the weather forecast
ability the Oracle provides. I thought it was due to inaccuracy of the weather
forecast data, but it was due to the wrong latitude always being provided to
the API call. This is fixed now, so you should see accurate weather forecast
information now :)

dub question here.....but do certain ships have unique abilities that justify
their cost? if so, that would mak sense; otherwse, amimissing something onwhy
would someone upgrade to the "overpriced" ships?

It's mostly a comparison of cargo, fighter, shield, and photon torpedo
capacities along with combat odds and jump reactor charges. Some ships don't
really have a strong point.

Agree /w Nazeri on rebalancing, but that's something that takes planning. What
about a small committee that works on this for the next reset? I'd be happy to

I have a redesigned ship stats and a few game settings changes. I don't have
anything for planets yet. But I can recommend a few small changes for this run.

We can discuss more widescale changes. But these settings will at least make
losing a fight not completely crippling.

Bank Limit: 20mil

Increase Utopia Price
WeaponWorld: 50000000 (50 mil)

Personally I'd greatly reduce fighter/shield costs but that might be more
settings changes than the sysop wants to do this go round.

Got it. I've increased the bank limit and increased utopia price at weapon
world to 500% (previously 100%). The fighters and shield prices aren't
outrageous, so I didn't mess with the prices on those.

Coping With Loss

my dad passed away a few weeks ago (actually a month ago at this point) and i
have been making nonsensical art to cope with my sadness. what is your coping

That's a terrible place to be in, but one we all go through. I lost my mom
relatively recently, and my dad is well in his mid-70s, so that's also a
thought. Family being together was a huge part of us all getting through it
(she was one of four sisters.) A good mutual support system is the best answer,
in my experience. Lacking that, just... Don't be afraid to lose it and let it
all out for a bit. It sucks and it hurts, but it's far better to let it out and
get it out of the system. Think of it as a cleansing or purge.

I can't help you feel better, but I understand and feel for your situation, and
absolutely wish you the best in getting through an extremely difficult time.

I'm sorry for your loss--I know it is part of life, but that doesn't make it
hurt any less.

I had a very close friend who passed away some years ago, suddenly and
unexpectedly. In the end, talking about them, the feeling of loss, and just
finding the words to artculate the feelings was what helped the most. Hopefully
you can find a way to honor his memory while healing your own soul.

So sorry for your loss, it takes time, but you will heal.

My loss was a long time friend dyingfrom a severe run of cancer, he'd get
better, then drop, back and forth. To see a school chum witheraway from the
cancer. The worst part about it, is he had no family left, a cousin who died
shortly after he did.
To cope, I remember key points of our friendship, he introduced me to anime, we
had the same tastes, mecha etc. Music was big, Industrial, Techno, Comics and
playifully giving his mom a hard time.
Again our condolences.
Sorry about any spelling mistakes.

Planets Teos Tutorial

Planets: The Exploration of Space is a game of trading, combat and conquering
the universe. But it can be a bit daunting on its surface. Here's a tutorial
for anyone who want to get started. We are treating this run of the game as a
Tutorial run, and are playing more friendly than the games requires.

==Beginning==
When you first start you are focused on building up cash. This is needed to
upgrade your ship, move into better ships and eventually afford attacks on
planets or other players. Every ship has a Flight Path. You can move to the
next planet on your Flight Path for one reactor unit. The Flight Path is one
planet for the base number of reactor units. If you upgrade reactor units, it
give you more jumps, but doesn't give more planets on your Flight Path.
Upgrading reactor units and Big Cargo Spaces increase how much trading and
money you can make. And move into better ships as you can afford them.

*ALWAYS END YOUR DAY BY CLOAKING, SEE DEVICE OF CLOAKING BELOW*

==Trading==
The key is to buy cheap and sell for higher. When you are trading, you can see
the prices for the next planet on your flight path. You want something that is
at least 3k more at the next planet. If not, you can instead type in your own
destination. This will skip the next two planets on your flight path, but it
can be better than having no good trades. Buy one of these at a reasonable
price and jump to the corresponding planet. Its usually good for a 6k-8k
profit.
Medical Units > Homeworld
Heating Units > Hothor
Novelty Packs > Tribonia
Ground Weapons > Tribonia
Plastic Trinkets > Baboria

==Ships==
Several plants will let you buy ship upgrades like Reactor Units, Big Cargo
Spaces, Shields and Fighters. Only Earth and Norhaven sell new ships, to
upgrade to a better model. Its good to keep 350k in a bank so if you are killed
you can upgrade into a Maxiport. The better ships requires you to join the
Alliance or Maraken to purchase. In general the Alliance has better ships,
though we'd like to reblanace them at some point. If you are a member of the
Alliance or Maraken, the enemy won't let you land. But you can cloak to skip
the checkpoint and land anyways.

==Combat==
You will encounter lots of ships while playing the game, some friendly some
not. Fighters and shields are you best friends. Though you can also load
Torpedos Bays when you have spare cash. And when you have more powerful ships
you can conquer planets. A ship has a combat rating. This is how effective your
fighters are at killing enemy fighters.So a 1.1 combat rating means 100
fighters will kill 110 enemy fighters.

==Special Items==
Device of Cloaking - Let's you cloak on the level you select. Its good to buy
one at some point of your trading day. That way you can cloak even if you end
your day on a planet that doesn't sell them.

Anti-Cloak Scanner - Fairly Pricey. It lets you scan a single

Just to add to this: When trading you always suffer a 10% penalty. So If you
buy at 100% you will only get 90% back if you sell it again at a planet that
advertises a 100% price (even if it is a different planet.) This isn't an
advertised feature and I think it can vary between different BBSes. So if you
find yourself earning a little less than you expected, that is why.

==Special Items==
Anti-Cloak Scanners- Fairly pricey about 90k-100k each. Lets you scan a single
Cloaking channel. So it takes multiple to find someone on a planet. If you see
that your Scanners have Interference that means someone is cloaked.

Eden Warp Unit- Purchased from Eden for 25k each. They allow you to instantly
jump to any planet, without using any Reactor Units or skipping any planets on
your Flight Path

Onboard Printing Kit- For 100k each, they can print propaganda that convinces
the people on a planet to destroy some of the fighters protecting it. The more
population, the more fighters they destroy.

Utopia Planetary Defense- These are basically a giant laser (or something),
that fire from a planet when its attacked. Can buy one from WeaponWorld for
5mil but they take a long while to charge when they are installed or after
firing.

Zone Atomic Bomb- Giant bomb to drop on a planet. But they cannot be purchased,
only found randomly.

==Agreements==
We have setup a Trading cartel called Independent Traders. If you join you can
request to be allied with other cartels, so you can visit planets when their
beacons are turned off. Lets you trade unrestricted. But the agreement is you
will not attack planets while a member. IF you want to conquer a planet, leave
the cartel first, or join a different one. The Independent Traders password is
blank.

Is there any guide floating around about how to play this game? I gave it a
shot last night and it seems fun but I could barely understand what I was
supposed to do besides trade and be cool to baddies trying to block my way to
the next planet!

There is a basic overview at planetsteos.20m.com/home.html but the basic loop
is to make trades, earn credits, upgrade your ship, and try to conquer planets.
It's most fun when you have some friends (and rivals!) in game. Form a cartel
to strengthen your hand, but also beware the possiblility of betrayal from
cartel members!

Time For An Exitilus Reset?

I think this round of Exitilus has run its course. My character glitched out a
long time ago to where there were two to three clones of him out there that
were all feeding their daily income and xp to me. More recently something
happened that apparently gave me unlimited high xp, which made it so I could
max out all stats and become undefeatable (I'm able to defeat a lvl 800 player
with my lvl 600, for example).

Sidebar unrelated to the glitching: I don't get the whole Megabozz quest. Even
completely maxed out (30k in every stat and with the maximum weapons and armor)
there's no way possible to get past even the first day (out of seven) of the
quest.

Anyway... how do my fellow Exitilus players feel about wiping the game?

LORD Extreme has been reset! Congratulations to Got*ink for killing a TON
(literally) of dragons! (I've starred out the 'p' in the name. I don't want to
